China To 'Study Carefully' Future Tax Policies
During a recent visit to the Ministry of Finance, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao
emphasized that the government would have to "study carefully" all
future proposed fiscal measures, so as to adapt to the changing circumstances
produced by the present global economic uncertainty.

EU Extends Duty On Chinese Glass Fibre To Taiwan,Thailand
Within a decision of the European Commission published in the Official Journal,
the European Union has extended the anti-dumping import duty levied on Chinese
exporters of open mesh fabrics of glass fibres to exporters from Taiwan and Thailand.

Japan Considers Tax Increases For Wealthy
Following the recent announcement by the new Japanese government of an economic
stimulus spending program, it has become apparent that the ruling Liberal Democratic
Party and its coalition partner, New Komeito, have now turned their attention
to ways to revise taxation, including increased taxes for the wealthiest taxpayers.
Liechtenstein, Japan TIEA Now In Force
Following ratification of the text by both contracting states, the bilateral
tax information exchange agreement between Liechtenstein and Japan is
now in force.
Japan To Extend Housing Loan Tax Credit
Japan’s new government is expected to announce that the significant tax
credit given to individuals against the interest payable on their housing loans,

US Challenges Indonesia’s Agricultural Import Restrictions
On January 10, 2013, United States Trade Representative Ron Kirk announced
that the United States is requesting consultations with Indonesia under the dispute
settlement provisions of the World Trade Organization concerning trade-restrictive
measures that appear to be designed to protect Indonesia’s domestic agriculture
industry.

A substantial number of taxpayers who claim non-cash charitable contributions on their United States tax returns may not be complying with federal reporting requirements, according to a report released by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration.
